UK Lockdown: Day 274 & 275

Baking, baileys, celebrations and the weirdest Christmas ever (for us) in full swing.

This is my first Christmas Eve off for the last five years and it feels very strange. But, also, very good. Well, excluding the fact I can’t see half of the family on Christmas Day itself, and all the other weird stuff that’s happening in the world right now. But I’d rather not think about that right now.

This was the pie before I baked it, the pastry isn’t perfect, but I’d like to think those peaks are.

Yesterday, on Christmas Eve Eve, I made a lemon meringue pie for Christmas Day, and finished up the Strawberry Cheesecake that I was making for my sister and her partner. Mum and I popped in on my Great Uncle Harry to give him some gifts and have a chat (socially distanced obviously because how else do you socialise in the 20s?). And Luke and I saw his parents for a catch-up ahead of the festivities.

Today, I got to see my beautiful sister. Wow. It was so wonderful to see her, and I can’t wait until we can stay over with them and have a weekend together in more normal circumstances. Christmas isn’t Christmas without family and fun, and reminiscing over happy memories. This photo is from nine years ago in 2011. We both look so so young and it brings back so many memories. Time really does fly!

There’s not really much to say about the last two days. Just that I am feeling very grateful that I managed to see my family, my bubble, my supper network. I love them all very very much.

This evenings film is ‘The Santa Claus’, (we missed last nights so will have to catch up), a true modern day classic starring Tim Allen.

Let’s hope 2021 will bring us lots more joy than this strange year of 2020.
