Today has flown by, which is really unusual for this day of the year. It marks the anniversary of my Dad’s death, and as such it’s not a good day. Despite this, it was actually fairly pleasant.
I wrote about grief last year, you can read it here; https://beckyelvinamennell.com/2019/02/27/mental-health-speak-out-grief-in-the-thirteenth-year/

This morning my mum and sister called and we were singing some of Dad’s favourite songs down the phone to each other. We had half an hour of laughter and agreed to FaceTime later on.
Luke and myself have had a relaxed time, watching Netflix and YouTube videos before sitting in our yard and having a cuppa.
We video-called my Grandad, Mum and sister and had a catch-up and a little giggle. Usually we commemorate the day with a family meal or keep ourselves busy with a day out to remember my Dad and spend some time together. This year of course we couldn’t, so a video call was our way or socialising.
The evening flew by with a walk around the local park and a takeaway curry. Of course, I had to have a few beers in Dad’s name, and remember the lovely man he was.
I treated myself to a mini pedicure as well, and relaxed the night away. How’s your Sunday been?
