Leeds has a lot of Thai restaurants available, but many of the modern chains don’t provide you with the real Thai flavour or experience. Thai A Roy Dee have been in Leeds for years and they really know what they are doing.
Located on Vicar Lane, facing one of their competitors, they serve traditional tasty Thai food in a casual, modern setting. The exterior doesn’t look like anything special, but the interior shows a casual, clean, atmospheric dining experience not to be missed.
My first visit here was for a friends birthday, with a group of eight, on a Sunday lunchtime. We dined on some classic starters such as; Pak Tod (tempura battered vegetables), Spare Ribs, Chicken Satay and Mushroom Satay. Main courses included the customary Pad Thai, Gang Matsaman (a coconut and peanut based vegetable curry), and Pad Num Mon Hoy (a stir fry with oyster sauce, vegetables and your choice of meat). Thai A Roy Dee Leeds also offer a bespoke set menu with some tasty classics. These include a starter and main which are served on the same plate.
The tofu and vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly. The beef, pork and chicken were all lean and tender to bite. And finally, perhaps most importantly, all the dishes were made with homemade sauces and traditional herbs and spices.
My partner and myself have dined here since and the experience was absolutely wonderful. The service is faultless and the staff really know about the food they are serving, their quality is their priority.
Next time you fancy Thai food in Leeds, definitely visit this traditional Thai restaurant for high quality food at very reasonable prices. If you visit Thai A Roy Dee Leeds you are choosing customary, delicious dishes at an independent restaurant over chain-restaurant cuisine.
