In the mood for a romantic meal in a classy Italian? I definitely recommend Carluccios in Leeds. While it is a chain restaurant, it has the added charisma of a local-run restaurant, with an authentic menu and friendly staff.
Steak usually costs an absolute bomb in Italian restaurants, but Carluccio’s did not disappoint with their filling sharing platter for two.
My partner and myself ordered some green beans extra- at £3.50 we thought it was a little on the expensive size for ten green beans- but this did not deter from our experience.
My partner likes his steak well-done, I myself prefer it medium so we met half way. The waiter looked slightly shocked by this- but trust me, the steak was still succulent, flavourful and virtually fat free. The garlic and rosemary sauté potatoes (they tasted sautéed so I assume so) were cooked beautifully and everything looked appetising- see for yourself below.
After our mains we were set on a chocolatey dessert. My partner went for a chocolate pudding with homemade vanilla ice cream and o had the chocolate torte with raspberry coulis. We both expected these to be standard, mass-produced, pre-made days ago puds; but no- or at least we couldn’t tell. The pudding was amaretto infused and light and airy with a light and creamy accompaniment.
My torte was described as rich but it wasn’t overpowering which was good. It was smooth again and not heavy at all. The raspberry coulis defiantly added the sour edge to the chocolatey mix.
We shared a bottle of red wine, which was not distinguished by any usual name but was from Italy. A light and fruity wine with a full palate.
We will definitely be visiting again and implore you to also!
Price: Mid-range. Overpriced side of ten green beans.
